Poetry

One of my favourite pastimes is reading and writing poetry.   Whenever I get a spare moment that is what I do.   I have recently joined a community for poets called Jingle Poetry it can be found here.  It is a great place for anyone who loves to write poetry.

Some of my favourite poets are: Edgar Allan Poe, William Blake, Robert Burns and Emily Dickinson to name but a few.

I first took an interest in poetry at the age of around four or five when my grandfather used to recite Robert Burns to me. He also would recite other poems that I have forgotten over the years.  Throughout the years I have written many poems but I have never kept track of them all.  Now of course, I keep them safe as I write them.   Some of my poems can be found at my other blog at this address.

I also enjoy reading poetry and all the different styles.  Beautiful pictures can emerge through the well written versus of a poem.

One of my favourite Edgar Allan Poe  poems is called The Raven, it is a lovely story in poetry.  It was written in 1854 yet still seems fresh and new each time I read it.  I have enjoyed every poem written by Edgar Allan Poe.
